Though K.Flay (Kristine Flaherty) lives in Brooklyn, and grew up in the north side of Chicago, we’d like to think her heart is still here by the Bay. She played her first gigs as a Stanford undergrad, and beefed up her mixing, editing, and rapping skills while wrapping up her dual degree in sociology and psychology. Her video for “We Hate Everyone” is a biting satire about entitlement and privilege (“I hate beagles and sunshine, losers and anime”) matched to a stylish, dayglo rave-up of muppetry and piñatas. “We're in the midst of such a bizarre zeitgeist,” wrote K.Flay in a recent email. “I hope I can capture a little bit of that with my music but also continue to be a weirdo.” @KEVIN_SEAL
