on Tunnel Stage
Ty Segall started out with a guitar and garage punk dream, gigging with half a dozen bands around the Bay Area. He brings the energy of that rock and roll trial by fire to every record and every stage. Ty Segall never fails to impress, whether playing to a crowded basement or to a huge festival crowd. The SF wunderkind is constantly on the move—touring, making records (allegedly three this year), and bringing garage-pop sounds to the forefront of music once again. You can hear shades of rock and roll’s past in Ty’s varying work: a little glam, a little garage, a lot of punk, but all around devastatingly good tunes. LAUREN ROSENTHAL
