It can be said that artist/musician Scott Hansen, the man behind the electronic curtain that is Tycho, has an ear for design. Along with his musical endeavor, Hansen spends time as the graphic artist ISO50, and each extension of his artistry informs the other. Calling San Francisco home for almost 20 years, Tycho is the culmination of Hansen’s inward curiosity and constantly changing environment into a fully realized and resonating vision. Dreamlike and serene, the synthesized soundscapes of Tycho’s latest release, “Dive,” play out in a blissful atmosphere of hazy keys and flowing rhythms. In the space of the songs, though, the blueprints of Tycho’s design-oriented origins come across in perfectly nuanced flourishes and intimately minimalist melodies. CHARLIE SWANSON
